There are many jobs available in the early childhood niche, but land one you must have the right qualifications. Early childhood teachers and daycare workers must have credentials that show they are responsible, capable of working with children, can plan age appropriate activities, and be trustworthy. There are many ways to prove these qualities, including some of the following:
A work history at other schools or daycare centers. If you have a great track record working with kids, this will really help you land the job. Be sure to mention whether or not you’ve planned curriculums, interacted with parents, identified behavioral problems, or performed any other tasks that would show you are an exemplary worker. Maintaining child records, handling disputes between students, and managing payroll are all great examples of other tasks you’d want to mention.
A great education. Early childhood workers should have studied children in some capacity. Make sure to mention it if you have a degree in education or some special focus on childhood learning (or even special education).
Teaching certifications or other certifications. If you are certified as a teacher, nurse’s assistant, or any other related position that involves handling and taking care of children, then be sure to mention it. Certifications hold a lot of weight.
